Mrs. Gail Benton Kerg
May 19, 1956 - May 7, 2019
Gail Benton Kerg, born May 19, 1956, went to be with the Lord in Heaven on May 7, 2019, from complications in her second bout with cancer. She spent her final days at home with her family and friends in Loch Hill, Maryland, before passing at Holy Cross Hospital with her family by her side. Gail and her husband Charles (Chuck) had moved to Loch Hill in 2016 to be closer to their grandchildren after spending 40 years in Akron and Mansfield, Ohio, building their family and lifelong-lasting relationships with neighborhood friends and their Linden Road Presbyterian Church community. Everyone who knew Gail knows that she had a supreme talent for making others feel welcome and for making them feel loved. Every new addition to the family instantly initiated a quilt-planning project, and innumerable friends of her children considered her their second mother. She was known for her beautiful smile and great hugs, for being the first to laugh, first to cry, first to love. Truly, her greatest passion was helping others, from her job at the library reference center, to regularly cooking dinner for eight at her table for four. Her generous, heartwarming spirit will be missed by everyone with whom she crossed paths. Gail goes to join her parents in heaven and is survived by her husband Chuck, her children Annie (Jake) and Andrew (Brenda), her siblings Tom (Jess) and Laurie, and her grandchildren Aunna and Dade. There will a memorial service held in both Maryland and Ohio to celebrate Gail’s life. All are encouraged to attend both or either as able, and to share stories and memories of her immeasurable impact on our world. The service in Maryland will take place on May 25 at Central Presbyterian Church in Towson at 1PM, while the service in Ohio will take place at Linden Road Presbyterian in Mansfield on June 8 at 11AM. A meal will follow both services.
