Mrs. Lillian Liberti Laird

It is with great sadness that I announce the passing of my beloved mother, Lillian Liberti Laird, who died peacefully on January 31, 2025 at the age of 96. Born on May 6, 1928, in Baltimore to local cabinet maker Enrico Liberti and wife Ada, Lillian grew up in Patterson Park then later Stoneleigh. She graduated from Notre Dame College an honor society recipient with a Bachelor of Arts Degree. After graduation she began a teaching career, working at both the Towson Catholic High School and School No. 23 at Wolf & Gough Sts. in Fells Point. She was a loving wife to her late husband Robert J. Laird, founding official at the Maryland State Lottery and was a devoted mother to son, Brian R. Laird. At that time she enjoyed working with her father at the family’s Chimney Corner Antique Shop on Centre Street and later the Maryland Historical Society. She was a walking encyclopedia on antiques, particularly furniture and she gave many lectures and presentations over the years. She had an open heart and an open mind. Lillian lived a full life and was a woman of many interests. She enjoyed tennis. She enjoyed bridge. She loved her Catholic faith. She loved to travel. She loved to dance. She loved old films. She loved to read. She had quite the green thumb and really enjoyed her home and gardens. She was an active member of the Wiltondale Garden Club. She became fiercely independent after the passing of her husband and for 20 years, maintained and lived in her own home until age 96. Lil made friends wherever life led her. She was a dedicated member of many social organizations including the Three Arts Club of Homeland, the Towson Women’s Club, Order Sons and Daughters of Italy in America - Towson/ Dulaney Lodge and the American Citizens for Italian Matters. She is survived by her son Brian, his life partner Rosalie, granddog Astro, many wonderful nieces, nephews & cousins and a multitude of amazing friends who will miss her dearly. Per her wishes, a private funeral service will be held for immediate family members.
