Mr Roger Allen Waesche Jr.

Roger Allen Waesche, Jr., age 71, passed away on January 8, 2026. Born on April 1, 1954, in Baltimore, Maryland, Roger spent most of his life in the area before recently splitting his time between Naples, Florida, and Bethany Beach, Delaware, where he and his wife, Alexandra (“Xandy”), enjoyed several well-earned years by the beach. Roger earned his bachelor’s degree in accounting from Loyola University Maryland in 1976 and later went on to receive his MBA in Finance from Loyola in 1984. Known for his steady temperament and high intellect, he built a distinguished career in commercial real estate. He served as President and CEO of Corporate Office Properties Trust (now COPT Defense Properties) and later co-founded Waeber Property Group. Colleagues and friends remembered him as a calm, principled leader whose word carried weight and whose style was marked more by consistency than flash. Above all else, Roger was a devoted brother, husband, father, and grandfather. He is survived by his beloved wife of more than 40 years, Xandy, and their four sons, Roger (Kate), Charlie (Grace), Church (Morgan), and Cole (Lizzie). He was a proud grandfather to Max, Collins, Caroline, and Bennett, who brought him immeasurable joy. He is also survived by his brother, John (Susan), as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Roger was preceded in death by his parents, Roger Allen Waesche and Mary Helen Waesche (née Cooney). Roger will be remembered for his humble spirit, gentle nature, kindness, and generosity. He took particular joy in time spent with his sons and grandchildren—especially in Bethany Beach—where he was happiest doing the simple things: being together, watching sunsets, and as he liked to say, “really livin.” Roger will be greatly missed by his loving family, friends, and all who were fortunate enough to know him. His legacy of unconditional love and quiet strength will live on through the many lives he touched. Visitation will be held on January 11, 2026, from 2 to 4 p.m. at Mitchell-Wiedefeld Funeral Home, Towson. A celebration of life will take place on January 12, 2026 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Joseph’s Parish, Cockeysville.
