Mr. William V. Milford "SKIP"

William V. “Skip” Milford passed away peacefully on January 26, 2023 at Gilchrist Hospice in Columbia, Maryland after a long and challenging battle with cancer. Born Dec 29, 1951, Skip was the son of the late Ida May and late Henry “Pete” Milford. He graduated from Ashley-Sugar Notch High School and East Stroudsburg College, where he could often be found on the basketball court. He lived most of his life in Ashley, Pennsylvania, having just recently moved to Ellicott City, Maryland. Skip was a retired school teacher from the Lake-Lehman School District and a beloved coach at Lake-Lehman, Hanover Area, and King’s College. He was a team player both on and off the softball field and basketball court, but most importantly, he was a mentor and friend to more people than his family can count. Skip is preceded in death by his mother and father, grandparents, and uncle Harry Hess. He is survived by his dear wife of 45 years, Deborah A. DeLuca Milford; his wonderful children, Ryan (Leann) and Megan Milford; grandchildren Colby, Bryce, and Addyson Milford; sister Judy (Bernie) Gurnari; aunt Vern Hess; nephews Salvatore, Bernie Jr. (Jenn) and Nick Gurnari, Robert (Meghan) and Tony Jr. DeLuca (Kat); brother–in-law Anthony DeLuca, as well as numerous cousins, former players, teammates, and dear friends. To Skip, his family was the most precious thing in the world. His time spent with the people he loved was something he always cherished. Skip’s greatest joys included sharing his love of sports with Ryan, watching Megan perform, cheering on Sal at every football game, and simply being around his grandchildren. His presence will always be missed, but his legacy lives on through those who love him most. The family would like to express their sincere thanks to the Gilchrist staff for their care and support given to Skip.
