Dominic Joseph Carignano

Dominic Joseph Carignano passed away suddenly on August 20, 2026 at Spring Arbor of Crofton. He was 86 years old. He was the third of five children born to Theodore and Anna (Tortoro) Carignano in Baltimore. A lifelong Catholic, Dominic completed grade school at St. Ann’s on East 22nd Street in Baltimore, and graduated from Mount Saint Joseph High School. It was soon after high school that two life changing events happened: Dominic met the love of his life, Betty (nee Bush) and he began a successful, long-lived career at the Social Security Administration (SSA) in Woodlawn, MD, where he was employed for 52+ years. Once their four children were grown, Dominic and Betty enjoyed travel to Europe, parts of the United States, Canada and Rehoboth Beach, Delaware. They also enjoyed going on lunch dates, outdoor musical performances on the weekends and working in their yard together. As the son of an Italian immigrant, Dominic was proud of his Italian heritage and greatly enjoyed Italian food and wine. He also loved a nice slice of apple pie, strawberry ice cream, coffee and Chevrolet’s. Dominic will be remembered for his kindness, patience, quiet demeanor and dedication to his family and his work at SSA. He was a true, well dressed gentleman with a modest, kind soul. A true Baltimorean, he was a huge fan of the Orioles, Colts and Ravens. Each summer in the 1970’s, he also enjoyed taking his children to Memorial Stadium to see the “March of Champions” marching band competition. Dominic is survived by his children, Christina “Tina” (Robert), Anthony (Macarena), Andrew (Elyse); five grandchildren (Elizabeth, Jane, Logan, Lauren and Paloma); one great grandson (Noah); sisters Antoinette (Theodore) and Rose (the late William). Dominic also leaves behind many loving nieces, nephews and extended family. Dominic was predeceased by his wife, Betty, to whom he was married for 58 years, and his son, Michael. A funeral service will be held at Mitchell-Wiedefeld Funeral Home (6500 York Road Baltimore, MD 21212) on Thursday August 27, 2026 at 11:00 AM with burial to follow at Parkwood Cemetery.
