Mr. Joseph Frank Boslego

Passed in peace Friday, February 19, 2016 at 3:15 pm at the age of 96, in the presence of his loving wife of 73 years, Alverta Caprarola Boslego, their two children and six grandchildren. A military musical tribute was performed by Hospice that afternoon. Mr. Boslego, a World War 11 Veteran, was born on March 25, 1919 in Mt. Carmel, PA, the son of Joseph F. Boslego and Esther Y. Boslego. He was a gifted musician, playing the accordion and piano, and represented Mt. Carmel High School in the Pennsylvania State Typing Championship. As a member of the 104th Medical Regiment Company of the US Army and member of the Army Band while stationed at Ft. Mead, Maryland, he played the baritone and French Horn, and performed on the WFBR radio station in Baltimore. Following his marriage to Alverta during the war, he moved to Baltimore and worked in sales at Bethlehem Steel Company until his retirement in 1981. He continued to play the piano and keyboard for family gatherings and volunteered his talent to local senior centers. He continued to perform after he and his wife moved to Augsburg Lutheran Assisted Living in Baltimore in March, 2014, where he made many close friends with residents and staff, who dearly loved his friendly, sweet personality. He will be remembered for his kindness and optimism, always with a smile for everyone until his death. He loved his family so much and will be missed greatly. In addition to his beloved wife, Mr. Boslego is survived by his devoted children, Linda M. Detty of Burke, Virginia and Joseph D. Boslego and his wife Stacy of Baltimore, Maryland; his loving sister, Delores Reiner of Shamokin, Pennsylvania; Grandchildren- Jennifer L. Franklin and her husband, Jarret; William J. Detty and his wife, Roselina; Karen E. Detty; Christina E. Griest and her husband, Jeffrey; Andrea K. Detty; and Michele D. Rodriguez and her husband, Luis. Great grandchildren – Camden Griest, Isabella Franklin, Maxx Franklin, Gianna Griest, Jaxon Griest, and Samantha Rodriguez; Stacy Boslego’s children – Kiley, Joseph and Ada; and many nieces and nephews. Mr. Boslego is pre-deceased by his parents, Joseph and Esther Boslego, brothers, Vincent Boslego and Norbert Boslego, and sister Evelyn Boslego. A memorial service will be held at a later date at the Augsburg Lutheran Home. Please omit flowers.
